Genetics' Nod2 gut disease
Susceptibility gene for Crohn's disease identified.
A gene which confers susceptibility to the gut disorder Crohn's disease has been pinpointed by research teams in the US and Europe1, 2 The defective gene may make the intestine attack its native bacteria.
Crohn's disease arises when the immune system triggers painful inflammation and ulcers in the gut.
