Sweet tooth gene found

One lump or two? The difference could be a gene.

Two research teams trawling the human and mouse genomes think they have pulled out the gene for a sweet tooth. The difference between those of us who take three sugars and those who opt for none could all be due to the gene T1r3 - a finding that could help in designing the next generation of artificial sweeteners.
