Antibiotic resistance switched off
New genes weaken drug-defying bacteria in the lab.
The search for weapons against intractable bacteria has turned up a new way to turn off antibiotic-resistance genes. A team at Harvard Medical School has restored antibiotic susceptibility to drug-resistant bacteria in the lab by giving them new genes1.
