Ice picks up particles from Universe's edge
Antarctic ice detects one of particle physics' coolestcustomers.
The frozen depths of the Antarctic ice-cap might be the best place to catch high-energy neutrinos -- some of nature's most elusive particles -- new research suggests. Astronomers can use these particles to study objects well beyond our Galaxy, and possibly as far as the edges of the Universe, out of the reach of optical telescopes.
