Stars run away for two reasons

A new study finds that two old theories of why stars hurtle through the heavens are both right. .

When Lee Marvin sang "I was born under a wanderin' star", he might have had OB runaway stars in mind. Astrophysicists at the Leiden Observatory in the Netherlands believe they have solved the mystery of why these young stars hurtle through the galaxy, seemingly on a quest of their own.
