Looks like the back end of a barnacle

Genomics reveals that there is more to the barnacle than meets the eye, Henry Gee reports.

When Charles Darwin returned home from his five-year trip aboard HMS Beagle, fired up with news about evolution, did he hold a press conference? No. He embarked on an immense survey of all the living and extinct varieties of barnacles.
