Toxic shot syndrome
Game birds that survive the an initial shotgun blast could be poisoned by bismuth pellets in their bodies, David Adam discovers.
Shotgun pellets are generally bad for animals' health. In fact lead shot is so lethal that it poisons and kills water birds that mistakenly eat it.
