Bringing fuel cells down to earth

If fuel cells revolutionize energy production in the next century then they are likely to do so quietly and efficiently, just as they produce electricity. They may not yet have the energy to topple coal and oil, but hydrogen fuel cells already drive buses, power hospitals and even heat swimming pools.
