Epigenetic control of myelin repair
Abstract
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune disease of the CNS in which an immune response develops against the myelin sheath and/or oligodendrocytes, the myelinating cell of the CNS. Multiple sclerosis is the most common neurological disorder of young adults, with an estimated incidence of approximately 1 in 500 individuals, resulting in annual global health care and associated costs in the tens of billions of dollars.
