Abstract
Precise apposition of pre- and postsynaptic terminals is essential for the development of synapses. At the neuromuscular junction (NMJ), for example, reciprocal signaling between the motor nerve and the target muscle is required for the differentiation of presynaptic motor neuron terminals and postsynaptic muscle membrane.
