The implications of this investigation are important and numerous. Fundamentally, the study demonstrates similar long-term outcomes in women with SUI who are treated with TVT or colposuspension. Given the popularity of midurethral slings (MUS), the lack of randomized controlled data against the use of colposuspension is easily overlooked. Such lack of data is common to fields with rapidly evolving technologies, where interest in assessing outcomes of older techniques fades with time. Accordingly, the data from this investigation are crucial in supporting the use of MUS as a first-line surgical therapy for SUI.
