Does the yield of prostate cancer biopsy and repeat biopsy justify the frequency of their use?

This observational study addresses a couple of simple questions. Firstly, what is the yield of a prostate needle biopsy in the PSA era? Secondly, what is the cumulative risk of prostate cancer detection in patients who undergo repeat biopsies? The authors attempt to answer these questions using a Medicare–SEER dataset.
