Laparoscopic pyeloplasty (LP) is a minimally invasive alternative to open correction of PUJO. Standard LP has similar success rates to open surgery; however, it is technically challenging, mandating high operative skills (including proficiency with freehand laparoscopic suturing) and requires surgeons to have a long period of training. The widespread use of standard LP is, therefore, limited.
