At the time of orchiectomy for TGCT, a contralateral biopsy can be performed to detect the pre-invasive precursor stage—carcinoma in situ (German nomenclature, testicular intraepithelial neoplasia)—and to obtain information on the fertility potential of the patient. This large study by Dieckmann et al. describes contralateral biopsies in patients with TGCTs, and focuses on the histological evaluation of spermatogenesis, the associations with clinical factors, and the diagnostic value of double contralateral biopsies.
