Dr Graham Riley gained his biochemistry degree in 1981 from the University of Bristol. He has worked in the Pasteur Institute (Paris), Chester Beatty Laboratories (London), and Wellcome Pharmaceuticals (Beckenham, Kent) before focusing on a career in tendon research at the Rheumatology Research Unit, Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He obtained his PhD in 1993 from the Open University and became head of the Soft Tissue Research Group in 1996. Dr Riley has recently moved to the University of East Anglia, having obtained an Arthritis Research Campaign Senior Research Fellowship, and his current research focuses on the role and regulation of metalloproteinases in chronic tendinopathy.
