He is currently a staff member of the Department of Medical Oncology, Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His research focuses on early clinical trials in soft tissue sarcomas, breast and genitourinary cancers, on pharmacodynamic endpoints in clinical trials and on immunogene therapy.

Erik Wiemer

Dr Erik Wiemer obtained his PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Amsterdam in 1991. He is a staff member and research group leader at the Department of Medical Oncology of the Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His current research interests are the molecular basis of drug resistance, the role of non-protein coding RNAs (e.g. miRNAs) in cancer and the pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic characteristics of novel anti-cancer drugs.

Jaap Verweij

Professor Jaap Verweij, MD, PhD is a Professor of Medical Oncology with tenure at the Department of Medical Oncology of the Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His main interests are new drug development, including the performance of clinical phase I and early phase II trials, and the inclusion of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in these studies. He has authored or co-authored over 600 papers on various aspects, and has given numerous lectures on a variety of topics at international meetings.
