Efficacy of ASCT for patients with NHL depends on the chemosensitivity of disease, amount of residual disease before and after the procedure and potential reintroduction of neoplastic cells within the autologous graft.1 Incorporation of rituximab within the more commonly used salvage regimens has substantially increased both total and complete response rates.2 Randomized studies are ongoing to confirm these preliminary data.
