MCL accounts for approximately 5–10% of all non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cases and is characterized by an aggressive clinical course and poor prognosis with virtually no long-term survivors. Conventional chemotherapy has failed to substantially alter the natural course of the disease and represents a non-curative approach.1 Thus, new strategies in the treatment of MCL are urgently warranted to further improve the long-term perspectives of MCL.
