Radon in the home and risk of lung cancer

Darby et al. have shown that radon in the home is associated with an increased risk of lung cancer, accounting for around 9% of lung cancer deaths in Europe. This has practical implications, since indoor radon concentrations can be reduced cheaply, especially when constructing new buildings.
