Breast reconstruction with implants: no survival disadvantage

Responding to concerns about the possible adverse effects of breast implants after mastectomy, Le et al. have recently published the results of their large, population-based study. Breast implants did not appear to confer any survival disadvantage; in fact, the long-term risk of breast cancer mortality was lower in women with implants than in those without.
