Study finds no link between hyperinsulinemia and AD-related brain lesions
This article has no abstract so we have provided the first paragraph of the full text.
Whether the risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is increased in patients with diabetes mellitus is a matter of some debate. One hypothesis supporting such a relationship is that, because insulin-degrading enzyme degrades not only insulin but also
-amyloid, the greater competition for this enzyme in patients with hyperinsulinemia might result in higher
-amyloid loads. However, findings from a recent, retrospective postmortem study have challenged this claim.
