Calcium-channel blockers linked to reduced risk of Parkinson's disease

Angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitors and calcium-channel blockers, drugs commonly used as antihypertensives, have shown possible neuroprotective effects in recent studies. To explore this issue further, Becker and colleagues carried out a case–control analysis to investigate whether use of antihypertensive medications reduced the risk of developing Parkinson's disease (PD).
