Fly model provides new insights into Huntington's disease pathogenesis

Expansion of a CAG repeat in the Huntingtin (htt) protein causes the neurodegenerative disorder Huntington's disease (HD). In a recent study, Romero et al. used a Drosophila model of HD that expressed the entire human htt protein with a 128 glutamine expansion (128QhttFL) to investigate the role of the expanded protein in the disorder.
