In this cohort study, Kurth and co-workers found an association between MA and both coronary artery disease and ischemic stroke in women over the age of 45 years. Though a relationship between MA and ischemic stroke is well established in women,1 the relationship with hard cardiovascular end points such as myocardial infarction and coronary revascularization had not previously been demonstrated. MA was also significantly associated with stroke, myocardial infarction and coronary revascularization. MO was not a risk factor for cardiovascular end points.
