Dr Josephine Briggs is Senior Scientific Officer at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in Maryland, USA. She served the NIH as Director of the Kidney and Urology Division from 1994 to 2006, and before that she was Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan. Her research interests include the renin–angiotensin system and diabetic nephropathy.
