Endoscopic submucosal dissection in the treatment of esophageal neoplasms

Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)—a relatively new technique for the en bloc resection of gastric neoplasms—has shown good rates of tumor eradication. Few studies, however, have assessed the technical feasibility of ESD in other regions of the gastrointestinal tract, including the esophagus. Fujishiro et al., therefore, investigated the technical feasibility and short-term outcomes of ESD for squamous cell neoplasms of the esophagus.
