The benefits of antihypertensive agents for cardiovascular disease prevention are largely related to the degree of blood pressure-lowering achieved.1 Some clinicians have, therefore, expressed interest in whether specific drug classes cause or prevent diabetes (a common comorbid condition with hypertension) as a rationale for choosing between drug classes.
