Clinical boardFilippo Crea John Deanfield JE Deanfield is currently the British Heart Foundation Vandervell Professor of Congenital Heart Disease based at the Institute of Child Health, University College London, London, UK. He has a special interest in the understanding of the preclinical development of atherosclerosis and the role of the endothelium. Adam Redpath Rob Simari RD Simari is the Chair of Cardiovascular Research and Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. His postgraduate training was at Beth Israel Hospital, the University of Michigan and the Mayo Clinic. His research interests are vascular biology and the development of novel biologic therapies for vascular disease. Anthea Springbett Frans Van de Werf Freek Verheugt Freek WA Verheugt was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He graduated from the University of Amsterdam in 1974 and did a thesis on platelet and granulocyte antigens and antibodies. He trained in cardiology at the Thoraxcenter of the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He was President of the Netherlands Society of Cardiology between 1999 and 2001. Currently, he is Professor of Cardiology and Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at the University Medical Center of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Professor Verheugt has published over 270 papers in peer-reviewed international journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, Circulation, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology and the European Heart Journal, of which he is an Editorial Board Member.
