Fatal intracardiac thrombosis risk raised in patients with cardiac amyloidosis

Amyloidosis is a rare condition in which precursor plasma proteins form extracellular fibril deposits in tissues and organs. The heart is often involved, leading to arrhythmias, heart failure and sudden cardiac death. Prognosis is very poor, but there are few systematic studies that have investigated the actual cause of death in such patients.
