Clopidogrel benefits survivors of ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Antiplatelet therapy with aspirin is the standard care for patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). Notably, addition of clopidogrel augments the effects of aspirin in patients with acute coronary syndromes without ST-segment elevation. Zeymer et al. analyzed 5,886 survivors of STEMI from the German ACOS registry, and compared a clopidogrel plus aspirin regimen with aspirin alone.
