Interventions to attenuate pathological matrix turnover and remodeling with ACE inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers have improved survival and reduced morbidity in patients following MI.1, 2 An intervention designed to further reduce remodeling and improve patient outcomes during long-term follow-up requires evaluation of a large sample of high-risk patients, as any incremental benefit would be small.
