Stopping malaria parasites dead in their tracks

Dysregulation of signaling pathways is a hallmark of neoplastic diseases, and interfering with protein phosphorylation-dependent signaling has proven successful as a strategy for anticancer chemotherapy. Thus, several protein kinase inhibitors have reached the market in recent years, and most major players in the pharmaceutical industry have developed programs aimed at identifying new targets among signaling kinases.
