Losing inhibition with ketamine
Abstract
Schizophrenia is a devastating illness, and efforts at developing treatments have been hampered, in part, by a limited understanding of the molecular basis of the disease. It is known that people with schizophrenia exhibit apparent decreases in glutamatergic N-methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) receptor subunit expression and alterations in signaling pathways downstream of the receptor.
