Dangerous liaisons: polyglutamine meets HMGB

Although much less common than Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, the polyQ neurodegenerative disorders have captured the attention of cell biologists. Expansion of polyQ repeats is a shared feature of all polyQ diseases and it is likely to offer important clues to the mechanisms by which misfolded proteins disrupt normal cellular pathways in age-related brain disorders.
