Abstract
What is the link between the nematode worm, cancer and blood cell homeostasis? The answer seems to be Forkhead box O (FoxO) transcription factors. Mammals express four distinct FoxO isoforms (FoxO1, FoxO3, FoxO4 and FoxO6) that are negatively regulated by protein kinase B (PKB; also known as c-Akt)-mediated phosphorylation.
