Abstract
It is well established that the ubiquitin–proteasome system firmly controls the progression through the cell division cycle by the timely destruction of key cell-cycle regulators. A prominent role is played by the anaphase promoting complex or cyclosome (APC/C), a ubiquitin ligase that mediates progression through and exit from mitosis, and the maintenance of the G0–G1 state.
