Abstract
Growth-factor binding to receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) initiates tyrosine phosphorylation of RTKs and activation of various signalling cascades. In parallel, activated RTKs are internalized by endocytosis and then either recycled to the cell surface or transported to lysosomes for degradation — a process known as receptor downregulation.
