Abstract
To divide, cells need to duplicate and segregate their chromosomes accurately. The mitotic spindle is a cytoskeletal structure that mediates the equal distribution of the chromosomes into the two daughter cells and a key question in cell-cycle regulation is how a functional bipolar spindle assembles at the onset of mitosis to allow a faithful distribution of chromosomes.
