Expanding dynamin: from fission to fusion

Abstract
A dynamic interplay between membrane fission and fusion events maintains organelle structure, membrane trafficking and protein sorting in the cell. In the endomembrane system, vesicles form by fission from a donor organelle and release their content following fusion with a target membrane.
