N-terminal acetylation targets GTPases to membranes
Abstract
Small GTPases of the ARF/Sar sub-family are important for membrane trafficking and organelle structure in eukaryotic cells. They exist in two states: an inactive GDP-bound form that is largely soluble, and an active GTP-bound form that interacts with effectors and is tightly membrane bound.
