Formin' adherens junctions

Sally Zigmond

Adherens junctions form between epithelial cells when protrusions extending from neighbouring cells interlace, allowing their E-cadherins to interact. Initially, E-cadherins aggregate to form small puncta and accumulate β-catenin on their cytoplasmic tails, which in turn binds α-catenin.
