Abstract
Cell cycle progression is mediated by waves of Cdk activity. DNA synthesis and mitosis require high Cdk activities, whereas cytokinesis precedes a period of low Cdk activity, typically extending throughout G1 phase, that allows the formation of pre-replication complexes which enable the next round of DNA replication.
