First things first: spindle orientation and mitotic progression
Abstract
To ensure that daughter cells inherit an equal complement of chromosomes, it is crucial that the mitotic spindle is oriented in a plane perpendicular to the plane of cell division. At first glance, it would seem that as long as the cell maintains this coupling, the orientation of the spindle should not matter.
