Centrosomes as command centres for cellular control
Abstract
The centrosome is positioned in the centre of interphase cells at the focus of a radial array of microtubules. Microtubules are polymers composed of α- and β-tubulin subunits, and their growth is initiated in the peripheral region of the centrosome (the pericentriolar matrix) by a complex containing a related protein called γ-tubulin.
