The nuclear envelope: filling in gaps

By enclosing their chromosomes within the double membranes of a nuclear envelope, eukaryotic cells are faced with a dilemma when it comes time to divide. Successful completion of mitosis requires that chromosomes gain access to the mitotic spindle.
