A newly discovered platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) isoform, PDGF-CC, is expressed in the mouse kidney during development, at a time and location distinct from those of the other two known PDGFs. These findings, as well as the biochemical characterization of PDGF-CC, indicate that it may represent a new ligand for the PDGF alpha-receptor.
