A hypoxic twist in metastasis

Hypoxia is an important factor in tumour development and progression. Cellular adaptation to hypoxia underlies critical steps in tumour progression, altering the expression of genes encoding products required for increased oxygen delivery, anaerobic metabolism and angiogenesis, among others.
