Abstract
To the editor: High-throughput metabolic profiling, known as metabolomics or metabonomics, has been an active area of research for over 35 years. The most commonly employed analytical tools, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS), have been used extensively to study metabolites in a wide range of biological systems.
