Description
We would like to invite applications for the above post to work with the Senior Clinical Researcher in the new BRC Nucleus to implement and support the establishment of a biobank to collect blood, urine and CSF, which will be used for genomic, proteomic and metabonomic research, linked to SLaM. The samples are an invaluable resource for the identification of biomarkers and the development of individualised treatment strategies for psychiatric disorders. The post holder will work together with clinical teams to ensure that blood and urine samples are being ascertained systematically and be involved in the collection, processing and storage of the samples. In addition, this position will offer the opportunity to participate in genomic and metabonomic research.
The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to analysis and presentation of data, but will also carry out more general administrative/research tasks such as data cleaning and data entry. The role will involve travel within Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark (South East London)
The successful candidate will have a first degree in social sciences, biology, health, epidemiology or a similar field. Interest in Mental Health and a career in research will be advantageous. Further, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a team as well as flexibility toward working hours are essential
Starting salary £27,946 pa (inclusive of £2,323 pa London Allowance). The post is funded to 31 March 2012.
