Non-clinical Lecturer in Vascular Biology of Pulmonary Hypertension

Salary range £42,060 – £46,970 per annum

Applications are invited for Non-clinical Lecturer in Vascular Biology of Pulmonary Hypertension based at the Hammersmith Hospital campus of Imperial College, located in East Acton.

The post is fixed-term for three years and is an opportunity for candidates with extensive knowledge in Vascular Biology of Pulmonary Hypertension. However, success within this period could lead to an open-ended appointment.

The mission of the Experimental Medicine and Toxicology Department is to develop and advance new therapies for disease. It draws upon the skills of basic scientists and clinicians with expertise in molecular biology, genetics, histopathology, toxicology, clinical investigation and risk assessment. The Department has made innovative findings of potential translational importance in the area of pulmonary hypertension.

The post holder will be expected to develop a sustainable research programme in the molecular and cellular basis of pulmonary hypertension. He/she will be expected to develop an independent research programme based on developing knowledge of cell signalling pathways in endothelial (and other vascular) cells and to co-ordinate existing research programmes on this topic to facilitate inter-Department and inter-Divisional research initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have substantial high-level technical knowledge in an area relevant to Vascular Biology of Pulmonary Hypertension.

The post holder will be expected to undertake relevant teaching in the Department and Dvision and will have proven experience of teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level and have experience of supervising both higher degree students (PhD, MD(Res) and junior staff. It would be desirable if the successful candidate could demonstrate a proven funding track record.
